Living and breathing in the Second City
So, as most of you know, I’m frequently working from home these days. I am usually up and at it by 6:30 AM or so. Almost like clockwork, someone starts mowing the law right outside my window. I mean, like every day (not really every day, but close enough). It drives me nuts! I had always assumed the mystery lawnmower man with Obssessive-Compulsive Disorder was working for my condo association. Only this morning, I looked out the window and made a surprising discovery. The lawn work was actually taking place across the street at the neighborhood Middle School. And all of a sudden things made sense! Only the government would mow this often!
So now I’m starting a surveillance project: How often does this school’s lawn get mowed and how many workers does it take? This should be fun.
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Mike, you know they have to justify the tax money they get and spend somehow. Maintenance is always a good nebulous expenditure.
