Living and breathing in the Second City
The media has been abuzz about McCain’s surge in the polls, or rather, Obama’s sag. I’m sure it is mostly to do with McCain’s presence at Rick Warren’s forum. Or the crisis in Georgia. But I can’t help thinking that just a small part of it could be that the All Obama Network, also known as MSNBC, has been effectively off the air for the past two weeks due to the Olympics. Maybe that’s giving them too much credit, but you know a few Obama supporters get their talking points from Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski

over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Mac hasn’t broken 45%.
45% does not a majority make.
What we’re seeing is float in MoE and general trends.
Obama’s vacation has likely been a much more important than the Olympics since the MSNBC primetime line-up is still on… And what is wrong with presenting progressive pundits anyway? MSNBC’s two biggest competitors, CNN and Fox, present a line-up of conservative pundits (with a few conservative Dem guests here and there for good measure).
Besides, you can hardly say with a straight face that Joe Scarborough (a Republican Congressman) is left-leaning.
Now that he’s actually engaged in the election after his vacation, Obama will bounce back. We know what McCain’s ceiling is (45%)… We don’t know what Obama’s is yet.
