Living and breathing in the Second City
Illinois Reason is picking a fight with Illinois Review over a post by George Dienhart that argues Obama flipped his position on the war. (Funny enough, Illinois Reason is about the most unreasonable blogger around, he even makes Illinois Review look measured and practical)
Is Obama a “flip flopper.” Well it depends on your definition of “flip.” While George makes a pretty good case, I’m inclined sympathize with Obama-heads here (though not necessarily Illinois Reason). Obama has been saying thinks like “We didn’t think our way into Iraq, so we’d better think our way out” (paraphrased) for well over a year. In fact, one of the things the left loves about him is that he carefully qualifies his statements such that he’s rarely subject to criticism.
Of course, sometimes his statements are so qualified they become meaningless. Which begs the question, if you never really say anything, aren’t you kind of like a flip flopper on steroids?

LOL, funny Mike.
As I’ve repeatedly pointed out to Mr. Deinhart, Sen. Obama’s 16 month plan for strategic redeployment out of Iraq has been the same since he introduced it in January of 2007 — a year and a half ago.
And if you think Obama’s becoming too nuanced, just look at the demands partisan opponents like Mr. Dienhart are placing on him as they parse his comments to bits.
