Living and breathing in the Second City
According to the Sun-Times:
Cook County Board President Todd Stroger can’t get his budget passed “because he’s black,” his floor leader angrily charged Tuesday.
Commissioner William Beavers said “if Todd was a white man, he wouldn’t have half these problems,” further alleging “this is a remake of the Harold Washington days” at City Hall, where racially fueled votes often ended in 29-21 decisions.
Hmmm … Somehow we’ve forgotten that Stroger is a dishonest dope and started comparing him to Harold Washington. Well, just in case you needed a reminder:
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

The sense of entitlement, hubris, and sanctimonious pontificating by politicians like Beavers makes one look at the movie “V for Vendetta,” and wax poetically for our own “V” in a Guy Fawkes mask…attacking the corruption & hypocrisy of the political establishment.
I don’t advocate the violence that the character “V” espoused in the film…but his attempts to wake-up the citizenry are applicable to Cook County residents.
WAKE-UP!!! We should vote en masse to DUMP THESE CLOWNS!!! Stop voting based on political affiliations or skin color…vote on the person who best represents cleaning up government, and cutting wasteful spending…whatever their political affiliation might be!!!
And if they get voted in and do nothing, or make no efforts to alleviate taxes or cut waste, VOTE THEM OUT!!!
We all vent on these posts and wring our hands in anger…while the politicans know full well, we’re angry, but we can’t be angry forever…we’ll calm down…and then WHAM! Budget gets passed, taxes go up!
