Living and breathing in the Second City
Since we have a new Senate president, now’s a good time to get to know him.
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

A note on Cullerton’s education commentary: he is under the impression that a couple of pro-charter school bills that were passed by the Senate last year became law. In fact, they never made it to a vote in the House, thanks to the childish antics of an outgoing House member. Hopefully the new Senate president will continue his support for \"competition\" between public schools and will again support the elimination of the cap on the number of charter schools permitted to open in Chicago, his hometown.
