Living and breathing in the Second City
In a brief telephone interview, Jones confirmed his retirement and said “We’ll see” when asked whether his son, Emil Jones III, would succeed him. Jones spokeswoman Cindy Davidsmeyer said the senator wants his son to replace him and would file paperwork Monday to have his own name removed from the Nov. 4 ballot. It would be up to Chicago Democratic ward committeemen to decide who would take his place.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

REPREHENSIBLE. The arrogance and hubris…its just too much to take. The comatose, vegetable that Stroger became anonits his idiot son, and the IDIOT people of Cook County actually vote him in!!! Now, Jones the 3rd is anointed to replace his father…a kid who doesn’t even have a college degree (not that that should be a prerequisite)…COME ON!!!!

Yep … pretty incredible. We should make a list of all the Parent/Child relationships in Chicago politics.
Madigan, Stroger, Lipinski … who else? Steele?

What gets me is why there isn’t more anger over this seemingly circumventing of the democratic process…then again, more often then not, the children end up getting VOTED into office by the machine and apathetic unthinking voters.
