Living and breathing in the Second City
I was just thinking last night that it’s mid-August and the Cubs are still playing good ball. When I did, my stomach jumped a little. This morning I read Morrissey’s Column:
It’s mid-August, and the Cubs are arguably the best team in the National League. This is not a fluke. No extenuating circumstances explain the phenomenon. [...]
I’m shocked there has been such outrage over Muhsin Mohammad’s comment that Chicago is “where receivers go to die.” Are you kidding me. Granted Mohammad dropped a lot of balls last year, but come on! How would you feel if your tenure started with a year of inexperienced Kyle Orton, followed by two years of [...]
I know I should be talking about the Cubs and their bad ass sweep of the Brewers. But I can’t help it. I need to know if I’m the only one pulling for Kyle Orton to when the starting job.

I’m told this guy is famous … shows how little I know about the good life. It should be a fun event though. I’ll be there, which means it will be even that much more exciting. You should come.
The White Sox were wearing a throwback jersey yesterday, reminding me just how bad things were in the 80s. That got me thinking about all the old funky jerseys. Which is the worst? Here are some of my favorites. What are yours. I’m still looking for a picture of the Pirates “Painters” Cap. That’s right [...]

The Trib is taking a poll of its readers: “Do you want Brett Favre to be the quarterback of the Chicago Bears this season?” This is a no brainer. Bears fans hate the Packers, not Brett [...]
At least the rude ones. Now if we could just get Todd Stroger to follow suit :=)
Seriously though, don’t you think it’s a little over the line for a journalist to send insulting email to a manager, trying to egg him on? Rick Morrissey was clearly trying to create news in order to report on [...]
I was ambivalent about instant replay in Baseball until I read this George Will column. Will connects the calls for instant replay to our cultural obsession with perfecting society.
The problem is that reformers will not restrain their metabolic urge for perfection. Listen, as they seem not to, to the logic of their language. They say: [...]
And is anyone really going to miss him? Check out his game stats from 2007:
So I went to my first Fire game on Saturday. We got dumped on pretty bad by the passing thunderstorms, but there were still 20,000 people there. Impressive. Being only my second professional soccer (err, Football) match, it was quite exciting. And a little disappointing: the Fire lost in the first minute of penalty time.
A [...]

on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
