It’s hard to see Kerry Wood go. He’s been one of my favorites ever since I moved to Chicago in 1999. But he’s a victim of his own success story, he can command a much bigger salary than the Cubs are willing to pay at the moment. Good luck to him.

All weekend, I’ve been pondering exactly what I would write about the Cubs this morning. Why did I wait until Monday to write about the Cubs pathetic loss to the Dodgers on Saturday? Because if I had written something yesterday, it would have been a string of obscenity.

Last night’s game may have been one of the worst Cubs games I’ve seen all season. They had the leadoff hitter on only once and then couldn’t get him in. The top part of the order–Soriano, Fukudome, Lee and Ramirez–looked lost. The fans weren’t having fun even before the first pitch. The tension was palpable.
