Living and breathing in the Second City
>Seriously. This is only partly invective. Today the Chicago> Public Schools (CPS) is busing 30,000 kids to Soldier Field to rally for more school funding. But Chicago> already spends more than $11,000 per student on average. The real problem is that Chicago> school budgeting ensures that most of the resources are sucked up by schools with the least amount of disadvantaged students>. This is entirely within the power of Arne Duncan and Mayor Daley to change. Yet, instead of doing so their going to use kids abused by this system to lobby in support of its continuation. This to me is a subtle exploitation of some of Chicago>8217;s neediest children.
>>There should be a law> against schools using kids for lobbying purposes. What do you think?
