As most of you know, I have been filing FOIAs on a regular basis, not because I necessarily think Chicago City Government is corrupt (!ahem!) but because I think there is certain information taxpayers should be provided whether they ask for it or not.

Credit Card statements are a big one. All my credit card bills are viewable online. The way I see it, the taxpayers are paying for thousands of official credit cards used by government agencies. Those statements should be viewable to. So, I’ll keep requesting them and making them public here until the City makes them public voluntarily.

A couple weeks back I FOIA-ed Arne Duncan’s credit card statement for January 2008. I finally received it. I was shocked at how little activity there was on it. But I guess I applaud him for it. Though, I wonder if I should have requested his expense reports?
