Living and breathing in the Second City
Jesse Walker thinks last night’s Oscars were the most watchable in years, partly because there wasn’t much of the traditional “witty banter” provided by the writers. Maybe he’s right, but frankly I was bored. That’s probably because I hadn’t but one or two of the nominated movies. There was a time when would’ve seen most all of them. But no more, either their movie selection is becoming more and more irrelevant, or I am.
UPDATE: Apparently, I misread Jesse Walker. He thought the Oscars were as boring as I did. Apologies.

Too funny! For some reason I caught myself watching the awards for the first time in my life. Well, I wasn’t really watching because I was working on my laptop, but that was the channel I chose to let play in the background.
Honestly, it was the worst excuse for “entertainment” that I’ve ever seen. One elitist after another accepting an award for pretending to be someone they’re not.
Pitiful…

You misread me — I said it WOULD HAVE BEEN the most watchable Oscar ceremony in years, if only the strike had continued. Instead we were stuck with a boring show.
